El Impossible

On Saturday the 28th of January, 2012 the IGCA team at the ABC visited El Impossible National Park here in the Sonsonate region of El Salvador. The team was planning to visit this protected area since the last few months of 2011. This trip would be a way of knowing more about El Salvador to enrich the members of the IGCA team about the flora, fauna and biodiversity that EL Impossible brings to El Salvador. This trip would also reduce our global footprint and increase our support to the local environment because included in the costs of the trip was a donation towards the Park. As a team we also sponsored the care for 15 hectares of preserved land in EL Impossible for a whole year.

On the one day trip the team experienced a great outdoor experience by hiking along the park’s pathways.  We divided ourselves into two groups and each group had a tour guide who guided us throughout the park.  Walking along the challenging terrain we managed to catch a glimpse on some of the parks natural beauties, such as its crystalline clear rivers which are native from within the limits of the park ensuring very low amounts of external pollution, perhaps even none. The tour guides informed us of the parks limits, history, size and many more interesting details such as the wide biodiversity within the park.  We also came to encounter incredible scenery on high viewpoints in the park this gave a change to appreciate raw nature as beautiful as it is, it was wonderful knowing that our country contained such beauty.

Towards the closure of the trip we had a special presentation from the SalvaNatura Organization that runs the park. Members or the organization explained to us the importance of biodiversity within the park and how the park made El Salvador a richer place in natural beauty. Also we got an overview of the species that account for the biodiversity of the park and how some of them are in danger of disappearing from the park or even getting extinct. This shows us the importance of caring for our environment, in order for future generations to be able to enjoy of the same natural treasures we are lucky to have. This was one of many important values that the trip provided the team with. It was absent of doubt an unforgettable experience for all of us.
