NOVMEMBER 15TH Recycling Day
November 15th is Recycling Day! In our school we feel that the IGCA is responsible for raising awareness that November is the Recycling month. So we have done lots of activities to promote this for example the recycling information assemblies and the recycling competition that you may have seen previously in this blog.
Now we have done a new activity to celebrate this day. We decided to sell water bottles better known as squeezes. The student that made a purchase had the chance to wear a green t-shirt on November 15th in order for them to remember that it's recycling day. We sold lots of bottles and we obtained $635 which will be used to help a local community this Christmas. We think that this campaign was a total success.
Later on the major reflection that the IGCA team made was that for every squeeze we sold each student reduced the consumption of plastic water bottles we buy in our everyday life. So with the bottles we sold, the student was able to reuse and reduce plastic and so conserve our resources. In the end on this November we made our school practice the 3R’S: reducing and reusing by buying the squeezes and recycling by the recycling the competition.
