We are starting a new campaign to promote a more environmentally friendly school. Our aim with this campaign is to make the importance of the environment in our community stronger. We have right now 1 week with out campaign and we this is what we have done: As a group we decided to make assemblies every morning for every year group in school. We created a power point presentation and also a video. Each morning each of us has to present these to the different year groups. Each of us has the opportunity to talk in public and also transmit the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. The three r's have turned into our logo. We have had a positive impact because our school is reducing paper for example the daily newspaper is now not in a paper photocopies but in a virtual photocopies. So we have decreased the amount of paper used in school.
Anothe activity we have done throught this week is the recollection of recycling materials in lunch and break. In breaks and lunches students leave behind lots of materials that can be recycled for example paper, plastic water or juice bottles, cans, plastics, juice cartons etc. So in every lunch and break a member of the IGCA goes around recollecting these materials. We make a much cleaner environment and we enjoy collecting these materials.
Coming soon we are going to have a recycling competitions in which students will gain points with the different recyclable materials they come with and also we are planning to do a bake sale in which instead of buying things with money, students will be able to buy using recyclable materials. Another planned activity is painting a mural promoting the three r's. And we have much more planned.
We hope to make a change on our school in a fun way that helps the planet we live on.
