INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION

In today’s society, culture and other issues that have to do with our own country have been forgotten and are left behind. To prevent this from happening, the IGCA group in our school, made a participation in the assembly that was given for our independence day, because we want our school to be informed and bring back the interest for our country.
El Salvador celebrated 187 years of its independence this 15th of September. But in our school we celebrated it the day before. School organized a general assembly in which the objective was to remember our independence.  The IGCA made a resume of the most important historical issues of this very special day for our nation. We started by talking of Central America’s Spanish conquest. We reflected on our presentation how the pupils suffered in the colonization. And then the first cry of independence in November 1811 and the second cry of independence in January 1814. And finally the declaration of independence.
To end our participation in the assembly, we showed a video, made by our crew, demonstrating interesting facts about El Salvador and nice images of our country.
Afterwards, to end the celebration we had a food fest in which we tasted different national drinks and food like pupusas, craft made cotton candy and ice creams, the famous Horchata and many more delicious things. It was a delight to see the whole senior section united celebrating this important date.
