Earth Week Day 5 Fri. 20th April, 2018


Earth Jeans Day



Secondary students wore green shirts with jeans and donated $1 for the next season turtle release. A total of $222 were collected. Thank you all who enjoyed and supported this EARTH WEEK 2018!

ABC Botanical Garden Grand Opening...


A group of Grade 9 IGCA members had the initiative to identify plants and add labels with scientific information. The Science Department pond area has become now the ABC Botanical Garden for all the school community educational and recreational use .

This time, the message was addressed to Grade 9 to Grade 12 students and they were also invited to be part of the activities the IGCA team organised for the rest of the week.

Earth Day KS3 Assembly




The IGCA mentors organised an assembly for Grade 6, 7 and 8 students to raised awareness about the environment and encourage children to act everyday towards the conservation of natural resources.

Tree Planting


                     

The IGCA team invited students and teachers to be part of our annual school tree planting that took place in front of the Spanish/English Department. This action will improve both the air quality as well as the school aesthetic.

Recycling Activity




Students met in the LRC (Learning Resource Center) to write messages and support our permanent recycling campaign.

Origami in the ABC February 2018




A Japanese Embassy representative was invited to share her experiences on the making of origami. This encouraged both cultural and recycling awareness. 

Beach cleaning January 2018

ABC teachers and students were part of the beach cleaning this year in San Diego Beach, La Libertad, El Salvador. Our school community is concerned about the importance of the conservation of marine life and mangrove forest.




Making lanterns: A traditional festival in El Salvador

"Farolitos de Ataco" is a traditional festival in a colonial town where people make decorations with lanterns to celebrate the birth of Virgin Mary. The making of these lanterns help the students learn and appreciate our culture.

School materials campaign. August 2017.

The IGCA organized a campaign to collect school materials that ABC secondary students recycled from books in good condition. Around ten boxes with different items were donated to students from
a public local school.

School Materials Collection 2017

The IGCA team will be collecting school materials in good condition. Every morning this week, materials will be collected from your tutor group and then these items will be donated to children in need.

Cultural Diversity Week 2017


IGCA members organized a Food Festival to raise awareness of cultural diversity. Traditional dishes from different countries were sold at the school cafeteria.

Earth Week 2017

Earth Week  was celebrated with different activities this year: IGCA mentors led an assembly for secondary students, a new recycling station was opened, a lunch time environment related concert took place at the cafeteria and we ended this week with a tree planting in our campus. Lot of fun activities.









Recycling Competition November 2016

Students were part of a Tribal Points competition by bringing to school as many items to be recycled. Videos were produced and shared with students to raised more awareness of our school permanent recycling campaign.

ABC First IGCA Gold Award: Roberta Bará



Roberta Bará, Prom 2016, was the first candidate to achieve the Gold Award due to her constant work with the team as a member since 2010 and ultimately as a mentor. Her interview to Fabien Cousteau, the famous ocean conservationist, during one of his visits to the country, was one of her greatest contribution to the program.
